Jessie Uhlman will observe her 100th birthday June 20. Jessie was born in Peabody and lived most of her life here until moving to the Kansas Christian home in 1976, where she now happily resides.

Doug and Betty Fisher of Haven called on her mother, Goldie Homan, Monday afternoon.

Dennis Pickens, Darren Pickens, Cory Foth, and Don Schmidt enjoyed a productive fishing trip June 1-3 to Lake Texhoma which is located on the Texas-Oklahoma border. Everyone brought back several pounds of striped bass filets.

Walt Wentworth is hanging up the broom. For the first time in 30 years, Walter Wentworth will not be on hand as custodian to take care of the Peabody High School and junior high this fall.

Two Peabody men, Ron Flores and Ed Carr, both received bat bites on the face in separate incidents and in both cases the men were advised to take rabies shots as a precautionary measure.

Mr. and Mrs. James Gardener were honored at a reception June 7 at the Christian church in Peabody in recognition of their 50th anniversary.

Nelda Windsor is working during the harvest season at the Peabody Co-Op Equity Exchange.

Mrs. Elva Good of Elkhart, Ind., is a houseguest of Mrs. Ashley Rood. The ladies are old schoolmates. This is the first visit to Peabody Mrs. Good has made in 64 years. She reports she can see a great many changes.

Jeanne DeForest was dismissed from the hospital in Newton and has returned home this week.

Picking cherries and gooseberries is the order of the day.

Died: at her home in this city on Friday afternoon, June 8, Mrs. A.V. Loose, aged 58 years, one month, and two days. She was an invalid practically ever since the death of her husband (Dr. Loose), Nov. 3, 1903, but her last illness was only about four weeks.

Miss May Johnson has the thanks of the local editor for a box of magnificent strawberries.

june 10, 1881

O. Mayes, formerly of the firm of Bauslin and Mayes, and his brother, Calvin, started for the Indian territory last Tuesday morning.

The Mechanic's Bank will be in attendance to discourse on some of their soul-stirring music at the lawn festival Tuesday evening at D.D. Perry's.
