Todd Dalke of Peabody was one of several pianists participating in a students' recital at Butler County Community College Tuesday evening. Fifteen other piano students also played in the recital.

The old watertower in Peabody is now scheduled to come down next week, the city council was informed at their meeting Monday night. The dates now given by Pitsburg Tank and Tower are Nov. 20 or 21.

A near record milo harvest is about 95 percent complete in Marion and adjoining counties. Co-op manager Leroy Wetta said his estimate of 850,000 bushels had already been surpassed and the total might reach 1 million bushels — but probably not quite.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Farr, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Voight, Kendra and Jimmy of Manhattan, Mrs. Randy Hague of Newton, Danny Farr of Wichita, and Mrs. Henry Deines of Herington were in Davenport, Iowa, for the weekend. They attended graduation ceremonies Saturday morning at Palmer School of Chiropractic. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Farr both received their Doctor of Chiropractic degrees. Gary and Lynne are en route to North Carolina where they will practice.

Mrs. W.H. Sears of Abilene was a visitor Monday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Slocombe.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Reeve returned home Monday after a weekend in Highland, spent at the home of Douglas Fitch and family.

November 2, 1956

Thornton Carl Skinner, proprietor of Skinner's Drive In Café on the highway died suddenly here at the ago of 62. He had suffered from a heart condition for some time but in recent weeks had appeared quite well.

Don Kastl, former vocational agriculture instructor at Peabody High School, is pictured with a Hereford steer which he is taking on tour for a feed company. The steer, which has received considerable publicity, was fitted with "a window" in the side by Kansas State experts so the digestive process could be observed.

Dr. Robert Stroud and Fritz Pile brought Mrs. Sam Clausen home Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Clausen had spent the last three weeks in Topeka visiting in the Stroud home.

November 15, 1906

The young crowd had a dance and oyster supper at the club house last Friday evening.

The electric lights failed to show up on time Tuesday evening but came out an hour or later. The light folks were making a change in the switchboard which caused the delay.

Prairie Center school was closed last week on account of diphtheria in the Eaton family.

Doc Seybold has moved into his residence. Goodrich is building a first class ice house, 25' x 40', of stone, in the rear of his market. He means business.
