NOVEMBER 7, 1996

Band students Vanessa Loewen and Hannah Berns played in a District VI junior high honor band concert this past Saturday at Wichita South High School. Membership in the 125-piece band was determined by director recommendations and instrumentation needs.

Roy and Arlene Unruh and Marilyn Unruh attended the funeral of an aunt, Margaret Pankratz of Goessel Saturday.

Randy and Cindy Dallke will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary from 9 to 1 p.m. Saturday night, Nov. 9, at the Legion. It is open to all.

Mr. Ferguson's American history classes will go to Topeka Nov. 11 and visit the Kansas Historical Museum.

Mrs. Hartman Baker was hostess to her luncheon bridge club last Wednesday at the Wheatstone Inn in Marion.

Mr. and Mrs. John Berns, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Baker, Mrs. Carol Foote, and Mrs. Ruth Foote attended the KU-Nebraska football game in Lincoln Saturday.

November 1, 1956

A large crowd attended the Presbyterian church supper Saturday night. Tables were decorated with horns of plenty and fall colors. About 200 plates were served. Handmade caps and mittens also were on sale at the affair.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fickertt left Tuesday for a trip to the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas. They will return Friday.

Jack DeForest came Thursday evening from Nashville, Tenn., for his family who have been staying in the John DeForest home. Mr. and Mrs. DeForest and children went to Nashville Sunday morning.

Mrs. S.P. McDonald visited in town Monday with her sister, Mrs. Shaque, who has moved into rooms over Slaymaker's restaurant.

L.L. Beck is building a new granary 32'x40'.

Mrs. C.C. Mills, who was injured in falling off a bridge in Catlin Township some time ago, has received $100 from the county commissioners as compensation for her injuries.

november 3, 1881

An excellent sidewalk has been built for the school grounds.

J. Hudson Morse has returned from the east and Frank Prescott came with him. Mrs. Prescott will be here in a week or two.

Tomato vines are still blooming.

J.E. Hall, of the firm of Dietrich and Hall, has moved into the city where friends will find him "at home."
