Susan Good, proprietor of Picket Fence Designs, has added a new branch to her business — live flower arrangements.
Turkey Red Restaurant has been sold to John and Sheila Carroll of rural Peabody. "It's always been John's dream to live in a small town and own a restaurant," Mrs. Carroll stated.
A card shower has been requested for Iva Newton's birthday. She will turn 103 Oct. 12.

The Peabody Jaycees have been "reactivated" after a couple of years of non-activity. About 23 young men are involved in the newly-chartered Jaycees organization. Craig Smith was named president.
Jeff Moore, former PHS football star, is playing this year at Southwestern College, Winfield, under new head coach Dennis Franchione. Moore played for Franchione at Peabody High School.
Michael Scott Glassner of Peabody pledged Delta Tau Delta at Kansas University this fall.

Debbie Crawford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Crawford, fractured her leg last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Herbert and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Coffman were in Winfield Friday night to see the Southwestern-Friends game. Rod Herbert entered the game three times to kick extra points — making two conversions.
The big Charles Davis Sr., home near Elmdale burned to the ground last Tuesday. Many people are familiar with the home. Davis is a brother of Floyd Davis, Mrs. Mabel Windsor, and Mrs. Pearl Slocombe.

Farmers are busy planning for a big time at the Anti-Horse Thief Association picnic in the park Oct. 5. We hope the weather will be favorable.
Farmers are bringing in their cattle to feed now. Rain is much needed.

Beadle & Prindle's Pleasure Party, a famous Boston comedy company, were sidetracked at the depot quite a while Tuesday, on their way west.
Rev. Tenney has picked nearly 60 bushels of tomatoes from his vines this season and is not done yet. He has about a quarter of an acre.
