Little League coach Chuck Good may have "bitten off more than he could chew" when he promised to be shorn if his team, the Gold Team, won their last four games. Even though the last game with Hillsboro was a close dual, the team pulled it off and Coach Good received his first clean shave in 15 years.
A surprise 80th birthday party for Sadie Decker was held at the Peabody Senior Center on Sunday, July 13.
Delbert and Gerry Schuster (Reiswig) from Sour Lake, Texas, were guests in the home of Duane and Ruth Sheridan. Gerry and Ruth have been friends since the second grade, 1942.

Three daughters are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koslowsky. Mrs. Sharon DeMallo of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Bonnie Kerns of Reading, Penn., came early this week. Mrs. Shirley Bartel and her husband of Albuquerque, N.M., drove through to Peabody at mid-week.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Myers spent the weekend in Las Vegas where they attended the Liberace show at the Las Vegas Hilton, also the City Light Spectacular.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Andres participated in the events at the National Holstein Convention in Wichita June 13-17.

Miss Patty Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hartman Baker, was the speaker at Kiwanis Club Monday night. She spoke on occupational therapy. Miss Baker will spend the summer at Portland, Ore., doing internship in occupational therapy and will return to Colorado State College at Fort Collins in the fall where she is a senior.
At a hearing in Judge W.E. Kiddoo's police court last Saturday, Donald Hess was charged with reckless driving. He was fined $20 and costs on the charge which grew out of an incident an evening earlier in the week.
Mrs. Louise Harper and Miss Gladys Heart were in El Dorado Monday evening. They attended a dance recital in which Paula Kemmerly participated and after the event visited in the Paul Kemmerly home.

The Gazette job department is just now getting busy getting out three booklets or pamphlets — the Presbyterian annual, the new telephone directory, and the program and announcements for the summer Chautauqua to be held next month.
Miss Annie Miller is quite ill with muscular rheumatism.
The Fair Play Aid Society held an all day picnic at the country club grounds yesterday.

A lady from Emporia will open a kindergarten school at Florence next week.
Mr. George White has our thanks for a fine lot of new potatoes which illustrates the productiveness of Kansas soil and climate. The largest one in the lot was 4 1/2 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches thick.
D.D. Perry conferred a favor on the public the other day by shooting a mad dog — while it was in spasms and before it could do any harm.
