A surprise birthday luncheon for May Day birthday girl, Eileen Myers, was held at the Morgan House Thursday, May. 1. The party was a gift from her son, Rod and Winona Myers for all the wonderful birthday celebrations she has provided.
The 705 Vine home of Cory and Daneece Foth was declared "Home of the Month" winner for the west side of town. This is one of the first winners in the promotion sponsored by the Peabody Chamber of Commerce in hopes of beautifying the community.
Phillip McPheeters, Newton, and his parents, Irvin and Pauline McPheeters, celebrated Irvin's birthday with a dinner at Kingfisher's Inn at Marion Sunday evening.

Jamie Crawford has received a fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she will study for her Ph.D. in political science.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cox returned home from a trip to Paris, France. The trip, sponsored by the Nash Finch Company, included grocers from Kansas and Nebraska.
On April 6 at 6:45, the Willing Workers of the Baptist church met at the home of Sonja Koslowsky. As a group they went to tour the Peabody Museum.

The Peabody FFA judging team won first place in the Central Kansas Livestock Judging Contest at Haven Saturday, April 13. Forty-nine teams competed in the event. Representing the Peabody chapter were Bob Davis, Alan Mellott, Larry Windsor, Jim Truax, Gerald Gregerson, and Gene Gutherie. In the individual ratings, Bob Davis placed fourth.
Students home from Manhattan for the Easter vacation were George Rod, Melvin Burdorf, Dick Davis, Jim Gutherie, Gary Hanneman, and Sally DeForest.
Miss Harriet Heath of Wichita and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Heath and son, Ted of Marion were guests at the John Jacob Heath home Sunday.

Percy Potter was home from Manhattan over Sunday.
Otto Scott and wife went to Burns Saturday to visit relatives and attend the dedication of the new Methodist church. Mr. Scot returned home Monday and Mrs. Scott on Tuesday.
Miss Delphine Lamb was hostess at a five-course six o'clock dinner Monday evening complimentary to Mrs. Fred Potter. Those invited were Mesdames Potter, C.E. Irwin, Charles Greene, Ed Graham, Arnold Berns, and Misses May Symonds and Annie Johnson.

The sheep sheds of Joseph Dohner who lives six miles northwest of this place, blew down last week during the wind storm.
Leave your orders for sweet potato plants at the Peabody greenhouse. Rhubarb roots, roses, honeysuckle, and snowball (the last two of our own growing) and it is time to plant them. The finest lot of plants ever seen at the Peabody greenhouse. Vegetable plants will be ready for growing.

The school bond election in this city on Monday did not draw out many voters, owing to the unanimity of feeling on the part of our citizens as to the necessity for a larger and better school. There were 119 votes for the bonds and one solitary vote against — and that one not for opposition to the building but its location.
