Robert Sellers of Florence was recipient of the Goodyear Award presented at the Marion County Conservation District annual meeting Saturday night, Feb. 15. The award is presented annually to an outstanding conservationist by the Goodyear company. Warren and Randy Windsor of Peabody had one of the farming operations given banker awards at the meeting.
Larry Watts was able to return home Friday afternoon from St. Francis in Wichita where he had undergone a heart procedure.
Donna Nelson of Peabody and Steve Hannaman of rural Peabody announce their engagement and approaching marriage. An April wedding is planned at the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church near Hillsboro.

The snow that began last week on Tuesday continued and intensified and on Thursday between five and six inches of snow fell. That was followed by one of the coldest nights on record when the mercury dipped to 20 degrees below zero.
A wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Becker was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Becker and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Becker Saturday evening, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Peabody Elementary. A birthday dinner for Kenneth Becker preceded the wedding reception.
Godfrey Albright entertained the fellowship meals crowd with a program of accordion music last Thursday afternoon. His repertoire of melodies included "Springtime in the Rockies," "My Wild Irish Rose," "Bye, Bye Blackbird," and several lively polka tunes.

Mina Fitch was ill with the flu last week.
Miss Gladys Hart was hostess at a turkey dinner Tuesday evening honoring the birthday of Miss Karen Keckler. Those attending were Misses Barbara Crilly, Grace Tnowe, Pat Gaines, Nita Thach, Karen Kechler, and Gladys Hart.
Homan's Gamble Store is now the local dealer for Westinghouse according to an announcement made Monday by Harry Homan, Jr., proprietor.

Helen and Lawrence Slaymaker have been quite sick with the grippe the past week.
Will Trimble is fixing up the house he moved from the Santa Fe grounds to the corner of Olive and 4th.
Lucien Hoyt left for Kansas City Monday to start out on a six weeks trip on the road.

I have for sale, choice Early Rose potatoes, raised in New York and shipped here expressly for seed. Price $2 per bushel. D.M. Greene, Peabody.
Richard Lytton, a farmer, living some four miles from town, died on Saturday of a lung disease, acquired by overwork. His age was about 40 years. He leaves a wife and two children. The funeral took place on Sunday, at the Christian church in this city.
On Thursday and Friday evenings last, Mrs. M. B. Holyoke (late of Chicago but now of Kansas temperance work), lectured in the city, at the Lutheran church. Her style of address is pleasing, as also her recitations of poems. Her songs and singing are good.
