The Gazette-Bulletin has been sold to Gary and Luann Bowlin, present owners Bill and Shirley Krause announced last week. They will take over the operation of the Old Home Town Paper on April 1.

Sadie and LaVern Decker were Saturday evening dinner guests of Roger and Sharon Decker. Other guests were Danielle Decker of Wichita and Carissa Decker of Pittsburg.

Stephen and Rebecca Gillet of Ellinwood announce the birth of their second son, James Lee, born Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. James weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and measured 19 1/2 inches long.

Daniel Eugene Ferguson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Ferguson of Medicine Lodge was the first baby of the year at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital in 1982. He was born Jan. 9, tipping the scales at 8 pounds 15 ounces.

Mrs. Dean Skinner, Cindy and Stacy were afternoon guests one day last week of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Liptau and Connie. Beverly and Kenneth Hanes were later callers.

Senior citizens enjoyed a Kansas Day program Friday after their fellowship meal at the senior center. Miss Leslie Ann Clark reviewed a book, "Kansas Folklore," By Sackett and Koch, professors at Kansas State University. Miss Clark also sang examples of early day Kansas songs.

People in Peabody aren't sure what the weather has been like the past week since this section has been almost constantly under a fog blanket and no one could see clearly. This is the longest period of fog within the memory of many residents here.

Don Larsen, Mrs. M.W. Mason, Karen Keckler, Mrs. Kenneth Windsor, and Mrs. Harry Rhodes are attending night school at Emporia State Teachers College on Thursday evenings.

Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schmidt Saturday afternoon and evening were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Larimore of Wichita.

Drs. Olinda and Julia Otte entertained the members of the Medical Society at a four course dinner last evening.

february 9, 1882

Miss Ridgeway, agent for the Kansas Orphanage Asylum at Leavenworth was in our city last Sunday and spoke in church and Sunday school in favor of her mission. She made an appointment to meet, on Monday, all ladies willing to form an auxiliary society here, to see that orphans are cared for and that they eventually find homes.

7,000,000 hedge plants for sale at $1.25 per 1,000, one mile west of Peabody. Hedge put in at reasonable rates. Inquiries of A.B. Moore, on the premises or at the Caton House during March.

The Grand Central Hotel office room has been newly papered and painted in a very knobby, stylish manner. Pecare and Company did the work.
