Amber McIntosh and Andy Rosine were crowned homecoming queen and king of courts.
Police discovered Tom Lynch's stolen car Jan. 11 at Cheney. A juvenile from Peabody was driving it at the time it was stopped.
Andrew Jacobs, Peabody, made the dean's list at Cloud County Community College for the 1997 fall semester.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Martin, recently of Peabody, were held in Dallas, Texas, Wednesday, Jan. 12. Among her survivors are two sons and their families and four sisters, Mrs. Bernice Jessen of Peabody, Mrs. Mabel Mitchell of Newton, Mrs. Myra Snyder and Mrs. Martha McConnell, both of Denver.
Last Wednesday, Jan. 5, was one of the most important milestones for the Doyle Creek Watershed. It was sort of the official inspection and "dedication" of the first conservation dam constructed under the auspices of the group.
Allen White was the program guest at the fellowship meal Thursday. He addressed the group concerning his plans to go to India where he will serve as agriculture supervisor and leader at a mission school.

JANUARY 9, 1958
Clarence Slaymaker of Littleton, Colo., was injured and his car about totally wrecked last Thursday as he ran into a bridge near Clements. He had been here for the Christmas holidays visiting relatives. Slaymaker apparently dozed off while driving.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Baker left Sunday to attend the hardware convention in Kansas City.
The Marion County entry in the State Cherry Pie Baking contest is Margaret Sellers, Jayhawk 4-H of Florence. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Sellers.
Mrs. G.P. Potter and Paul Baker attended the funeral of Wallis Hoch in Marion Tuesday afternoon.

W.H. Morgan was in Marion on business Monday and Miss Ivy Morgan accompanied him.
Mrs. J.W. Walton has been ill with the grippe this week.
George McKercher has been ill with the grippe this week and unable to return to school at Golden, Colorado.
A.B. Mollahan and wife have moved into the house just west of Sterling's Feed Store.
Grandma Savage of Florence is visiting Mrs. E. Linden.

Dr. Buck has just brought home some very valuable horses to add to his collection.
The Mechanics Cornet Band had their annual election last week. Some valuable additions were made by the joining of new members. The band now numbers 12. Leader M.W. Hoover, musical director D.H. Randaly, president, Thomas Osborne, secretary, A.Dean, treasurer, O.J. Roberts.
