Daniel Hess

Daniel Jacob Hess, 82, died April 12, 2004.

Born Feb. 21, 1922, in rural Marion County, he was the son of Harry Daniel and Olga Anna (Zeih) Hess.

On June 20, 1947, he married Mary Ruth Ellsworth in Wichita.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was wounded. He received a Purple Heart.

A retired quality control inspector for Coleman Company for 38 years, he also was a farmer/cattleman. He was a member of the VFW, Bester G. Brown Lodge, a Mason, and Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three brothers.

Survivors include a son, Dale Hess of Kechi; daughter, Joyce Rogers of Hot Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Esther Stucky of Peabody; and three brothers, Albert Hess of Peabody, Raymond Hess of Monett, Mo., and John Hess of Wichita.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center.

Memorials have been established with the Disabled American Veterans and Via St. Christi Home Health Care.
