Cross country Warriors win home meet

Peabody-Burns High School boys' varsity team won its home meet Thursday with a total of 67 points. Hesston finished second with a score of 69.
Aaron Topham paced the team with a first-place finish and a 3.1-mile time of 18 minutes, 33.55 seconds.
Duane Unruh was 12th with a time of 19:25.53, followed closely by Ryan Wiebe at 13th with a time of 19:35.74.
Kendall Wiebe finished 19th after running the course in 19:52.13,and Josh Klarmann was 22nd with a time of 19:57.43.
Sheldon Wiebe (20:38.25, 30th), Seth Methvin (21:40.43, 47th), and Ethan Riggs (22:20.46, 49th) rounded out the boys' team.
Martin Hofkamp of the junior varsity tam was 33rd with a time of 26:28.
Two Lady Warrior varsity runners competed as well.
Sam Pickens was 46th after a 2.4-mile time of 23:09, and Erica Frederick finished 47th with a time of 27:40.
Lauren Pickens won the junior varsity division, completing the course in 18:01.82. Heather Brooks came in 30th at 27:14.
Junior high
Peabody-Burns Junior High School had four runners compete as well.
Christian Gard was first in seventh grade boys' race with a time of 5:44.
Seth Topham (6:55, seventh), and Zach Preheim (7:48, 10th) also competed.
Amanda Pickens was fourth in the eighth grade girls' race, finishing with a time of 19:55.
