Cross country team brings home eight medals

Peabody-Burns Junior and Senior High cross country teams opened the 2003 season Thursday with competition at Clearwater.
Ashley Elliott competed in the freshman/sophomore division and set the pace for the pack, finishing first in the two-mile course with a time of 12:41.
Alyssa Carter placed ninth in that division.
Jana Windsor placed second in the two-mile junior/senior division with a time of 12:46. Tiana McGee placed fourth.
Andrew Topham competed in the 5K run and earned a fifth place medal with a time of 17:51.
The junior high school team had three medalists. Ryan Wiebe placed 10th in eighth grade two-mile competition. Ethan Riggs finished 20th.
Kendall Wiebe logged a 30th place finish in the seventh grade one-mile race.
Head coach Tony Zappone was pleased with the results. "The kids did a great job. They competed well for a first meet," he said.
The team will travel Thursday to Hesston.
