Cross country squads take regional runner-up positions

Peabody-Burns High School cross country team brought back two more team honors and three individual medals Saturday during regional competition at Cessna Activity Center in Wichita.
Both the boys' and girls' teams came in at the runner-up positions.
Andrew Topham earned a medal placing second in the 5K, finishing the course in 17:48.
Duane Unruh came in 13th. Derek Benson took 19th, Jacob Wolf 20th, Maximilian Stralka 26th, Christian Bengttson 28th, and Nicholas Whitney 38th.
Tiana McGee earned a fourth place medal, running the two-mile course in 13:21. Kate Topham finished fifth with a time of 13:27.
Alyssa Carter came in 16th with Ashley Elliott 17th, Stephanie Vetter 35th, Samantha Pickens 41st, and Anna Zappone 45th.
Both teams will compete in state meets this weekend at Wamego.
