Cross country girls place at state

The Peabody-Burns cross country team traveled Saturday to Wamego to compete in the state meet. The girls' team placed sixth overall with two placing in the top 20.
Tiana McGee earned a 10th place medal, running the two-mile course in 12:44. Jana Windsor shadowed McGee at 11th with a time of 12:46.
Also running for the girls' team were Alyssa Carter, Ashley Elliott, Kate Topham, and Anna Zappone.
From the boys' team, one runner qualified for state competition. Andrew Topham ran the 5,000-meter course at Wamego in 17:17 earning an 11th place finish.
The harriers have been coached this season by Tony Zappone.
