Cross country competes in first meet

Runners from USD 398 traveled to Clearwater Thursday for the first meet of the season. Team members from PBHS and PBJH competed and individual results were recorded. Up next for the team is a trip to Hesston.
Christian Gard placed fourth for the seventh grade with a time of 6:08. Seth Topham was 24th with a time of 7:29, and Zachary Preheim was 33rd at 8:01.
Eighth grade runner Amanda Pickens finished 19th with a time of 19:45.
In the two-mile freshman/sophomore division, Sheldon Wiebe placed 26th with a time of 12:47. Heather Brooks came in 87th with a time of 21:29.
Sam Pickens placed 53rd in the two-mile junior/senior division with a time of 20:08. Teammate Erica Frederick came in 56th with a time of 21:36.
Lauren Pickens ran the 4K in 19:03 and placed 28th.
In the 5K, Aaron Topham placed 19th with a time of 19:03. Josh Klarmann ran 27th with a time of 19:37. Kendall Wiebe finished 32nd, 19:48, followed closely by Ryan Wiebe at 33rd with a time of 19:52. Curtis Frederick placed 50th, running the course in 21:09. Ethan Riggs was 52nd, 21:44, and Seth Methvin had a time of 22:40 to place 57th.
