County seniors to meet at Burns
The board of directors of Senior Citizens of Marion County, Inc., will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Burns Community Building.
The Burns Seniors will serve lunch and need reservations to be made by today, Wednesday. Call Kathleen Brenzikofer, president, 620-726-5593, or the Department for the Elderly, 620-382-3580, to make reservations.
Anyone needing transportation to the meeting should call the department office by Thursday.
The 2003 NC-FH Area Agency on Aging Senior Fair will be Sept. 16 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina. The theme is "A Grand Gardener."
Margaret Jirak of Tampa was chosen to represent the Marion County group as Grand Gardener. Harold Bowers of Marion was chosen as the alternate at the May 16 meeting of Senior Citizens of Marion County, Inc., in Lincolnville.
The Hillsboro Seniors will host the 43rd annual meeting of the group in October.
Blanche Cowan, Health Service Providers committee chairperson, reported on high blood pressure, which is measured inside the arteries. It should stay below 135/85, and should be checked monthly or oftener.
It was reported that 182 completed applications were submitted for the Kansas Prescription Assistance program. There will be more help in August, according to Dawn Sholtz.
