County officials respond to requests for rocked roads
Staff reporter
A request from the City of Lehigh resulted in the county approving rock being laid on a county road.
Marion County Road Supervisor Steve Hudson said Monday that the city had requested rock on a road that leads to the city's water well but it was a dead-end with no residences. He proposed an alternate route that would be a shorter distance to rock which would be a mile out of the way for the city.
The commission approved the alternate route.
Other roads also were discussed for possible laying of rock.
Hudson and county public works superintendent Jim Herzet entered into a five-minute executive session with the commission to discuss acquisition of property.
When the meeting reconvened, the commission gave the road and bridge employees authorization to continue land procurement procedures.

If the county does not renew the contract or allows it to expire, the contract would automatically continue as is. The county needs to respond 90 days prior to the expiration date if it wants to make changes or withdraw.
— Terry Olsen and Mike Meisinger, members of Marion County Farm Bureau board of directors, invited the commission to a meet and greet with other board members at 7:45 a.m. March 19 at Stone City. Olsen said one of the goals of the board was to work with the commission regarding agriculture issues.
— Schmidt requested and received a five-minute executive session to discuss personnel. There were no decisions.
— County economic development secretary Teresa Huffman requested and received a 15-minute executive session to discuss personnel. The meeting reconvened with no decisions.
