County lifts fireworks prohibition
Fireworks can be sold and discharged in Marion County.
Marion County Commission approved a resolution Monday that permits the sale of fireworks in the county from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 27 through July 6. Retail businesses must obtain permits from Marion County Clerk.
The resolution also allows landowners to discharge fireworks on their property from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 1-4 each year, without a permit.
County commissioner Randy Dallke had asked the commission to consider a resolution a few weeks ago and had worked with county attorney Susan Robson and county clerk Carol Maggard to develop it.
