County fair is this week

The Marion County Fair will "Celebrate Good Times" beginning today (Wednesday) at the fairgrounds at Hillsboro.

Open class and 4-H entries were checked in and judged today. Public viewing began after 3 p.m.

Hard work will pay off for livestock exhibitors when the annual 4-H livestock premium sale will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday.

At 8 p.m., The Kraft Rodeo and events for children will begin at 8 p.m.

Airplane rides will be available beginning from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Airport. The rides are free for those ages seven through 18. Parental permission is required.

A new feature, the barbecue showcase, will begin at 4 p.m. Fair-goers will have the opportunity to sample various barbecued foods made by local residents and businesses.

At 6:30 p.m., a 4-H rocket launch will be held in the arena. There is no admission charge.

Tickets are available for the annual demolition derby which will begin at 7 p.m. in the arena.

Exhibit removal and pay-out of premiums will be from 5 to 6 p.m.

Exhibits will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for public viewing.

National Guard football toss will be held daily from 4 to 10 p.m.

The commercial building will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. daily, and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
