Compassionate Friends to hold candle lighting ceremony

Marion County Compassionate Friends will hold a candle lighting remembrance ceremony at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Marion Presbyterian Church.

Compassionate friends is an international support group for families following the death of a child.

The theme for the ceremony is " That their light may always shine" and will include readings, music, and the candle lighting with a reading of the deceased children's names.

The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting is an annual event held the second Sunday in December, which is National Children's Memorial Day.

Candles are lighted for one hour worldwide, starting in New Zealand, to honor children who have died.

All who want to honor a deceased child of any age are welcome to participate.
