Commission purches new blocks for pool
Peabody Super Swimmers ended their season Saturday, undefeated. They also claimed the league championship Saturday at Abilene.
Swimmers and coaches got an extra boost this year when the Peabody-Burns Recreation Commission installed new starting blocks at the Peabody City Pool.
The blocks were installed in time for the home meet in June. Previously, the team had to make do with homemade wooden starting blocks.
Those blocks required a heavier swimmer standing on the back so that the block didn't tip into the water when a swimmer was on it.
The Rec Commission spent $3,000 on the blocks.
