Class of 1953 celebrates 55 years years ago

Peabody High School class of 1953 celebrated 55 years May 25 with a gathering of nine classmates and eight spouses and friends at the Peabody American Legion post.

The event was hosted by Barbara Hodges and Bob and Arleen Moffett. An evening meal was catered by Sharon's Korner Kitchen.

On Memorial Day, several more class members and friends joined the group for dinner at the Brown Building.

Those in attendance during the two days were Melvin and Charlene Burdorf, Fort Worth, Texas; Dick and Maxine Davis, Hamilton, Texas; Judith (Baker) Fife, Spokane, Wash.; Ray and Carmita (Buell) Yust, Belton, Mo.; Monte and Carolyn Fisher, Whitewater; Bob and Arleen Moffett and Myron and Barbara (Mott) Harris, Peabody; Barbara (Craig) Hodges, Topeka; Ray and Carol (Mott) Peirce, Hesston; Billy and Sandra Burke and Paul and Sally (DeForest) Attwater, Wichita; and Lynn Watts and Jerry Higgins, Marion.

The class had 24 members. Five class members, Avis (Graham) Burke, Loretta (Hague) Lackey, Pat Hughes, Norma (Schiffner) Huffman-Neufeld, and Jerry Watts are deceased.
