City of Florence seeks lifeguards

With summer just around the corner the City of Florence is beginning to get a bit concerned about the lack of lifeguard applications it has received.

Councilman Trayce Warner made a pitch Monday night at the city council meeting for applicants.

"(Pool manager) Lori Kirkpatrick has only gotten one application," she told the council. "We need four to open this summer."

City clerk Janet Robinson said the city has run ads in area newspapers and Kirkpatrick has talked to young people who have worked in Florence before.

"An applicant needs to be 16 years old and have a CPR and lifeguard certification," said Warner. "There is still plenty of time to take the class and get certified by the time we open the pool."

For more information or for an application to apply contact Kirkpatrick at 620-983-2756 or Florence City Office at 620-878-4296.
