City of Florence schedules meeting on zoning

Florence City Council and the Florence zoning committee will host a community meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in the city building. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce new city zoning regulations, answer questions residents may have, and discuss any issues about which the public may have concerns.

Planners have checked the school district calendar and found no conflicts with ball games or school functions.

"We want to encourage everyone in Florence to attend this meeting," said zoning committee chairman Sarah Cope. "We also will have a couple of copies of the new zoning requirements at the city building for people to review before the meeting. We don't have the resources to print a copy for everyone, but people can review it at the city building and be familiar with changes we are proposing."

Following the city meeting, the zoning group will review community input and present the final copy to the city council. After the council's review it will be presented to the county commissioners.
