City crews will clean gutters

Peabody city administrator Jeff Benbrook has announced the city will be moving forward on cleaning storm debris from gutters. Plans are to have the job finished by Memorial Day. The work will be done by city crews.

Arbor Masters has been able to work more steadily in the city park with the advent of good weather. Benbrook anticipates they will be finished by the first part of May.

Benbrook also noted the city is working with GeoTech to get the alley between Vine and Olive streets surveyed before deciding where drainage work will be done.

GeoTech employees will be in town later this week to begin work. They will determine whether or not the alley was officially abandoned by the city.

If it was abandoned and the proper documentation filed, easement rights will have been reassigned to the property owners.

If it has not been abandoned and remains city property the GeoTech research and survey will determine where the center line is and where easements lie.

That information will determine when and where the ditch is cut.

If easement rights were returned to property owners city council members will have to determine who will be responsible for the ditching project.
