Citizen tips are helpful
Police chief Jeff Pohlman reports that he has been pleased by citizen reports to his office about suspicious activity, especially involving drug abuse.
Pohlman has been part of a group of Marion County officers giving drug awareness programs to groups of citizens countywide.
He and Jeff Soyez presented one such program at the Peabody Senior Center on Oct. 29.
"They asked really good questions," Pohlman said. "It went well and we appreciated them inviting us to speak to them."
Pohlman said he continues to encourage people to help be "extra eyes and ears" in the community. Tips from individuals always are helpful, he said.
Also in his report, he noted that Doug Eden was arrested for battery Nov. 2 following a confrontation in the street at Vine and Division streets.
On the same day an unnamed customer at the Shirley B Restaurant was asked to leave the establishment after causing a disturbance. Law enforcement officers were called to remove the customer, but no charges were filed.
