Children s Theater to present Fractured Fairy Tales

"An Evening of Fractured Fairy Tales" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on both July 11 and 12, at the Marion City Auditorium. Five plays will be presented in the annual Children's Theater production of Marion/Florence Recreation.

A total of 35 kids are involved, including actors, backstage hands, costume and props people, etc. They have been rehearsing for four weeks.

"It will be a fast-paced evening with lots of laughter and something for everyone," said first-time director Tricia Parker of Hillsboro.

Her assistant director is Cathy Whitaker of Marion.

The plays, all based on "fractured fairy tales," are: "Happily Never After," "The Spoiled Baloney Man," "The Other Frog Prince," "A Mixed-up Fairy Tale," and "The Really Ugly Duckling."

Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children. Lemonade and cookies will be available for purchase at intermission.

The show opens with "Comedy Tonight," a Broadway musical comedy standard.

Other music will include the Seven Dwarfs doing "Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho, It's Off to Work We Go," Snow White singing "Some Day My Prince Will Come," the Frog Prince doing "It's Not Easy Being Green," and Cinderella warbling "In My Little Corner."
