Changes on tap for annual fall athletic banquet
Peabody-Burns High School athletes will be honored at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the annual fall athletic banquet in the Brown gymnasium. (The time is different that printed on the school calendar.)
The banquet will honor high school cheerleaders, volleyball, football, and cross country participants.
"The format for the banquet has changed this year," said athletic director Ray Savage. "Instead of a full meal, a dessert bar will be served to students and their parents."
Savage said desserts will be served by the senior class and there will be no charge to anyone.
"Desserts will be served from 7 to 7:20 p.m., followed by each of the coach's presentations," said Savage. "This is a change from banquets of the past. The athletic department would be interested in any comments the parents or students have about this kind of format."
Savage also reminds the event still is a banquet and asks that everyone attending dress accordingly.
A parents' meeting will be held immediately following the banquet (about 8 p.m.) for information on the basketball program. Coaches will discuss their programs and parents will learn about insurance, physicals, and medical releases. The meeting will last about 30 minutes.
