Change underway at Legacy Park

Many changes continue to take place at Legacy Park.

Recently a game room was added to the assisted living area complete with a new pool table, dart boards, and space to work with crafts and puzzles.

As colder months approach the evening domino games are enjoyed by many residents.

A series of winter programs are being developed by Koni Yoder with community people and organizations who have special interest and experiences to share with the residents.

The efforts of the monthly mending group is appreciated throughout the facility.

The nursing effort is focused on the National Health Quality Initiative project for which Legacy Park was selected as one of the Kansas nursing homes to participate with this project. There is a nationwide effort underway to develop new ways to assess resident's pain with corresponding pain reduction. This is in response to a growing health care question about why should the frail elderly need to endure agonizing pain.

The nursing floor activity program is expanding with Norma Huffman, interim activities director, leading the way.

We are excited about Helen Coman, R.N., and Norma English, R.N., joining our prn nursing staff.
