Chamber notes Santa's arrival Dec. 7
Twelve members of the Florence Chamber of Commerce heard at the Nov. 7 meeting that Santa Claus will be making an appearance in that community shortly after 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7.
The chamber planned additional activities for the evening. Veterans' Park will be the site of the festivities which will include decorating a community Christmas tree, singing Christmas carols, and watching Santa arrive to visit with the youngsters and deliver candy.
Singing and tree trimming will begin at 7 p.m. and the community is invited to participate.
Marvin Funk of the Hillsboro Lions Club presented a brief summary of the Lions Clubs and Leo Clubs of Kansas. He told chamber members that there is some interest in Florence to establish the clubs and urged chamber members to consider joining when approached.
Discussion about replacing the signs on the highway was tabled until after the first of the year.
Sue Klassen, chairman for the recent soup and chili dinner, thanked the volunteers who helped with the fund-raiser. It was noted that $400 was raised.
The next meeting will be held Dec. 5 at the Florentine Center.
