Challenge for Peabody residents

By JOANNA BRAZIL

Director, Peabody Main Street Assoc.

I am pleased to announce that Peabody-Burns High School has included downtown cleanup in their busy end-of-school plans.

The students are looking for ways they can help in welcoming alumni back to the community on Memorial Day weekend. I will be there with a broom and shovel to help them. Will you?

We are offering a challenge to the community to help spruce up Peabody from 9 a.m. to noon May 22. We will meet at Santa Fe Park. Peabody United Methodist Women will provide tasty treats and drinks for workers. We are proud of our community and want everyone to know it.

While we are on the topic, I want to express appreciation to Dave and Ester Stucky and Susan Good for continuing to add color and vibrancy to Peabody's downtown and park by sharing their gardening talents. Thanks also to those who continue to take the time to pick up trash and litter when you see it. It takes all of us to keep our city beautiful.

For more information about the cleanup, contact Joanna Brazil at (620) 983-9251 or e-mail at pmsa@peabodyks.com. Bring your own broom, shovel, gloves, or other tools.
