CCC statue dedication, Chat and Dine planned for Oct. 2
Activities at Marion County Park and Lake Oct. 2 will be centered around the dedication of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) commemorative statue.
The CCC was responsible for creation of the lake.
Dedication ceremonies begin at 2 p.m. at the site south of Kingfisher's Inn. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.
A reception will follow the ceremony at 4 p.m. at Kingfisher's Inn.
At 6:30 p.m., guests will be honored during the monthly covered-dish dinner and meeting of Chat and Dine at south lake hall. Guests will be former CCC workers, visiting national spokesmen, and lake superintendents.
Beef and pork will be furnished. Those attending are asked to bring vegetables, salads, and desserts.
Former lake residents are encouraged to celebrate with other "lakers" during this dinner.
Hosts for the evening are Judy and Wayne Reno, Mary Alice and Don Jolley, and Jean and Homer McKellips.
