Catherine Brown

Catherine Brown, 85, of Burns, died Oct. 5, 2004.

Born July 29, 1919, on the family farm near Burns, she was the daughter of Henry and Reta (Uppenkamp) Olberding.

She lived her life in Burns and attended the Coyote Hollow one-room school and graduated from Burns Catholic High School.

On April 26, 1941, she married Ramond Ellery Brown. He died in 1973.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, El Dorado Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion auxiliary, and EHU. She was an avid community supporter and always was available for any project in Burns.

Survivors include two sons and wives, Mark and Susie Brown of Wichita and David and Lynn Brown of Burns; a brother, James Olberding of Burns; two sisters, Gertrude Weber of Elmdale and Louise Hall of Wichita; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The rosary was recited Friday afternoon at St. John Catholic Church, followed by the Funeral Mass.

Burial was in Burns Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas.
