C. Malone signs with Tabor

Chelsea Malone, a senior at Ellinwood High School, has signed letters of intent to participate in the Tabor College women's basketball and track and field programs next year.

According to Rusty Allen, head women's basketball coach, Malone is an outstanding, quick and strong player. "She does everything from shoot the three-point shot to post up."

Leading her team with an average of 17 points and six rebounds a game, the 5-7 guard earned First Team All League honors as well as First Team All-Area by the Great Bend Tribune, both in 2005.

Malone will play in this year's Mid Central Athletic Association All-Star Game.

"Chelsea has a great feel for the game and we anticipate her making an immediate impact on our team," said Allen. "She is a great student and has outstanding character. It will be a privilege to add her to our team."

For Dave Kroeker, head track and field coach, Malone's "athleticism and attitude toward competition will help us build a championship program. I'm excited that she has chosen Tabor to continue her athletic and academic career."

Malone throws the javelin and was a 3A state qualifier in that event as well as the 400M.

In the classroom, she currently serves as National Honor Society president.
