Business and services guide
By KRISTEN HOOPER
Director, Peabody Main Street Association
Things are happening in the economic restructuring and economic development committee. A new updated business and service guide is currently in the process of being put together. This business and service guide will serve as a great resource for Peabody residents, Marion County residents, and for potential residents of our community.
"The last guide was printed at least 10 years ago" said Jeff Benbrook, committee member, "the committee felt that it was time to update the information."
It is the intention of the committee that the guide will better serve the community and surrounding areas and will increase awareness of Peabody businesses.
"Some of the businesses in town are home-based businesses and are not easily located or well known. This guide will be open to list all businesses." Benbrook explained.
The previous brochure was printed in black text only and did not include the address of the businesses, volunteer/service groups, youth/adult organizations, or churches. The new brochure will be more inclusive. Every civic/volunteer organization, non-profit, and church has the opportunity to listed free of charge but a registration form must be submitted. The guide will feature a full color cover and include business name, address, and phone number for a nominal fee of $20, e-mail address or web address may be added for an additional $5. This guide will be distributed through the water bill once completed and will be available through the city office. An electronic file of the guide also will be available through the city's website. It will also be sent to people who contact the City of Peabody or Main Street with interest about possibly relocating to Peabody.
Registration forms are available through the City of Peabody's website or may be picked up at the city building. Businesses wanting to be listed in the guide will have to pay a listing fee of $20 dollars. This fee will include the business name, address, and phone number. An option of listing a web address or e-mail address is available for an additional $5 fee. If a business would like to be listed under more than one category an additional fee of $5 per category will apply.
Volunteer/service groups, youth/adult organizations and churches will be listed at no charge as long as the registration for is completed.
Registration deadline for the guide is June 1, at the Main Street office.
