Burrton Chargers take win from Warriors

Staff writer

Peabody-Burns Warriors lost two league contests last week. In a road game at Burrton Jan. 14, the Warriors lost to the Chargers 55-47.

The first quarter at Burrton was a slow one for the Warriors. The squad had a tough time getting anything going offensively. Lots of fouls on both teams kept the score low. The Warriors were up by one, 9 to 8, at the end of the first period.

The Warriors went on a seven-point run early in the second quarter. Burrton crawled back into the scoring from the free throw line. Foul calls continued throughout the quarter, but the Warriors held onto a three-point lead at the half with the score standing at 21-18. Philip Unruh led first half scoring with 12.

An unusual number of whistles for the evening slowed the continuity of the game.

The Chargers went on a five-point run two minutes into the third quarter and held onto the lead for the remainder of the contest. The Warriors lost, 55-47. Second half scoring was led by Caleb Good with eight points.
