Burns students take gifts to seniors

By JOYCE KYLE

Burns Senior Citizens met Dec. 14 and were surprised when they were presented with a Christmas wreath created by Nick Morgan, Zach Goodwin, Sean Bruner, Beth Hofer, Bethanny Loukes, Heather Green, Britany Winsor, and Austin Castleman, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders from Peabody Elementary School, and their counselor Sally Barnaby.

The students also gave each senior a decorated sack with a recipe and ingredients for snowman soup and a "God's eye" to hang on their tree or wall.

Before they left, the students sang a song. Everyone expressed appreciation to the students.

After the meal, Kathleen read, "How to Stay Young," and "Four Candles." It was decided to give a donation to the community building committee for the use of the building for meetings.

The birthdays of Lowell Larsen, Carl Riggs, Laverna Parrish, and Margaret Morgan and the anniversary of Don and Laverna Parrish were acknowledged.

Margaret Morgan and her cousin, Jackie Creamer, entertained the group with several songs. They began with "I Saw the Light" and ended with "O Holy Night." Everyone enjoyed the music.

Enjoying the day were Beverly Morgan, Diane Nelson, Maude Gaines, LaVonne Ammeter, Don and Laverna Parrish, Stan and Karen Saner, James Olberding, the Rev. Jim Bush, Cecilia Kennedy, Jandee Moore, Carol Callahan, Kathleen Brenzikofer, Carl Riggs, Evelyn Sidener, Gene Obee, Norma Martin, Lowell Larsen, Margaret Morgan, Jackie Creamer of Marion, and Joyce Kyle.
