Burns seniors elect officers

Burns senior citizens met Nov. 14 for their regular monthly meeting.

The flag salute was recited and Pastor Jim Bush asked the blessing. The group sang "Happy Birthday" to Joyce Kyle and Sandi Cunningham and "Happy Anniversary" to Mike and Ann Wimberly.

Peggy Unruh, coordinator of Comfort Keepers, explained the services available. They opened Oct. 1. Her office is at Legacy Park, Peabody.

Zeola Langenegger gave an interesting program about some of their trips, including a 2002 trip to the Grand Canyon, Tombstone, Santa Fe, Lincoln, and Albuquerque. Mary Langenegger and Joyce Kyle accompanied them. This year, they went west, visiting Alcatraz, Fresno, Oregon, and Washington. Mary Langenegger and Roma Becker accompanied them.

Election of officers was held. Elected were James Olberding, president; Evelyn Sidener, vice president; and Laverna Parrish, secretary-treasurer.

A card was signed for Kathleen Brenzikofer who is recuperating at Kansas Christian Home, Newton.

Those attending included Zeola and Mary Langenegger, Peggy Unruh, Mike and Beverly Morgan, Maude Gaines, Carl Riggs, James Olberding, Sandi Cunningham, Don and Laverna Parrish, Doni Rogers, Evelyn Sidener, Lowell Larsen, Pastor Jim Bush, LaVonne Ammeter, Mike and Ann Wimberly, Ray Robinson, Colleen Brunner, Carol Callahan, Dan French, and Joyce Kyle.
