Burns senior citizens elect slate of officers

Burns Senior Citizens held their monthly potluck dinner Oct. 8 at the community building. Following the meal, the group acknowledged the birthday of Gene Obee and elected the following officers: Kathleen Brenzikofer, president; Evelyn Sidener, vice president; Joyce Kyle, secretary; and Laverna Parrish, treasurer.

The following announcements were made:

— Tickets are available for the annual county meeting to be held Oct. 17 in Marion.

— Hospice training will be held in Marion on the mornings of Oct. 12 and 19 or the evenings of Oct. 15 and 22. Call Donna Becker at Central Home Care and Hospice if interested.

— Flu and pneumonia shots will be available at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at the community building.

It was suggested everyone watch "Thou Shalt Honor," a care-giving program at 8 p.m. Wednesday on PBS.

James Olberding served as host of the meeting. He talked about bird watching and told of some of their habits. He then shared an interesting video, "Dancers of the Dawn," about prairie chickens.

Those who enjoyed the day were Minamae Bierman, Irene Elisha, Albert Gustainis, James Olberding, Don and Laverna Parrish, Ed, Tom, and Nedy Grimwood, Lee and Evelyn Sidener, Norma Martin, Beverly Morgan, Herb Strotkamp, Fritz Brening, Kathleen Brenzikofer, Lou Anderson, Diane Nelson, Cindy Jackson, Colleen Bruner, and Joyce Kyle.

Irene Elisha will be hostess at the next meeting which will be Nov. 12.
