Burns Senior Center: Seniors hear from Mayor Glenn

Burns Senior Citizens sang "Happy Birthday" to Mary Glenn, Burns mayor Tuesday before 32 people enjoyed the potluck dinner. Laverna Parrish introduced Mayor Glenn. She told of several projects the city has including a new light on the highway at the entrance to the town, improvements at the ball diamond, removing a house on South Washington, and Saturday benches in honor of Lou Anderson are being delivered to the corner park. Ribbon cutting day is May 6 for the library and city building.
Noreen Weems was present and spoke to the group. She said togetherness is the key to small communities, family and friends hold us together. She offered to help with the Homestead Tax, Food Sales Tax, and LIEAP.
Minutes of the last meeting were read. The treasurer gave a report. An Easter card from Noreen was read. A letter from Stanley and Karen Saner was shared inviting everyone to an open house in June and thanking people for their help and concern during Stanley's illness and as they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Gene Obee read an article entitled "Senior Awards." Beverly Morgan read two articles from the Chase County Senior News.
The next meeting is May 9.
