Bloodmobile will be at Peabody church Sept. 7
Anyone interested in donating blood to the American Red Cross is reminded the bloodmobile will be in Peabody from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Peabody United Methodist Church.
Progressive Mother's Club will sponsor the event.
American Red Cross needs 500 blood donors a day in Kansas and Northern Oklahoma alone. Blood shortages are increasingly common as many people who once were regular blood donors are now in need of medical treatments that require blood.
Blood must be available to patients when they need it. Waiting until an emergency arises to give blood is too late as it takes 48 hours to test blood for safety.
Giving blood is safe and easy. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in general good health. Most medications do not prevent people from donating blood.
All blood types are in demand, but types O-positive and O-negative are especially needed.
Donors should call Carol Klingenberg at 983-2373 to schedule an appointment.
