Best wishes for the New Year

I should probably make a list of New Year's resolutions in this column since I wrote a letter to Santa last week, and since one event follows the other. However, a girl has to keep a few things to herself, don't you think? I don't want a list of all my shortcomings printed here for Marilyn Jones to review in the "Days of Yore" 10 years from now.

There are only a few days left until the end of the year — your last chance to make a charitable donation that may reduce your tax obligation. While many national organizations, colleges, and such rely on your support, no one will appreciate your check more than local groups that serve the people in your community. If you haven't done so, now is the time.

I wish you all good health and happiness and other fine things in 2007. A new year always is a special time of renewal and so it is this year. I hope we treat one another well and do good things for our global community as well as our local community.

Bring on 2007!
