Berean defeats Lady Warriors

Staff writer

The Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warriors lost on the Berean court Friday in a league match, falling to the Berean team by the score of 56-50.

A tough week of basketball faces the Lady Warriors this week with games against Remington, Burrton, and Inman.

A new starting line-up gave Peabody-Burns a new look Friday as they took to the floor for the game against Berean. Andrea Jones put back a rebound to start the scoring for the Lady Warriors.

Substituting a new group of five players every few minutes, the Lady Warriors played a fast quarter, trailing by five at the end of the first, 10-15. Good team play gave the Lady Warriors a needed boost in the second quarter. They closed the gap, but were down by two at the half, 29-31.

The second half scoring was started by Gretchen Berns with a two in the lane. The quarter slipped away in the last two minutes with good shooting from the Berean squad. The Lady Warriors were down by 10 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Warriors couldn't match the shooting prowess of the Berean team and were defeated 56-50.
