Benefit fishing tourney lands a big catch

Fishing teams participating Saturday at the Fifth Annual Craig White Fishing Tournament hauled in 165 pounds of fish before the final 4 p.m. weigh-in. Nineteen teams participated.

First place went to Rod and Kim Conquest with a total weigh-in of 46.517 pounds.

Second place went to the team of Nolan Hurst and Dan Rowland who caught 22.928 pounds.

Roy Horr and Tonny Delvechio captured third with 21.03 pounds of fish.

Bill Dutton caught the largest fish at 4.80 pounds. He and his son Eric hauled in a total of 18.210 pounds.

Other teams making a sizable catch were Callie Smith and Chad Carr with 19.003 pounds, Shawn Nguyen and Gabe Demmitt with 13.668

pounds, Mike LaRue and Jerrod Grosse with 9.083 pounds, Charlie and Linda Fisher who caught 4.18 pounds, Calvin Garoutte and Matt Litton with 3.615 pounds, and Rob Turner and Michael Hedrick with 2.645 pounds.

Temperance Scott and Josie Holm caught one fish that weighed in at 3.96 pounds.

The team earning "best of show" was Ken Kangas and Sherri Bowlby for their attire and for catching the smallest catfish. Their prize fish weighed 1.675 ounces.

All participants enjoyed a cookout and drawing for prizes after the tournament.

Funds will go into the Craig White Memorial for the Needy and be disbursed to individuals in the area who need special assistance to overcome a setback in their lives caused by financial or health problems.
