Beatrice Wentworth
Beatrice Allen Wentworth, 88, died Nov. 12, 2006.
Born Nov. 11, 1918, she was the daughter of Grover and Alta (Wiesner) Allen.
She attended school in Whitewater and moved to the Peabody area at the age of 12.
On June 19, 1940, she married Walter H. Wentworth. She was a homemaker for many years before working outside the home at Peabody Memorial Nursing Home and retired from the Peabody school system.
After retirement, Beatrice and Walter moved to Newton in 1990 where she enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with her family, and playing cards with friends.
She was preceded in death by husband Walter, her parents, three brothers, and a sister.
Survivors include a sister, Wilma Orpin, Newton; a daughter, Shirley Herbison, Newton; grandson, Steve Herbison, Cottonwood Falls; five adopted grandchildren; two great-granddaughters, Misti Griffin, Moundridge, and Stormi Herbison, Newton; three great-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cassoday, and Jaicee Griffin; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday (today) at Baker Funeral Home, Peabody. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. David Ragland officiating.
A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association.
