Auxiliary will revive Veterans Day celebration
For the first time in recent memory a program celebrating Veterans Day and honoring the men and women who served in our armed forces will be held.
Peabody American Legion Post 95 Auxiliary members are hosting a chili feed and musical entertainment from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Hall in Peabody. The program itself will begin at 7 p.m.
The meal includes chili (and a refill), crackers, drink, and dessert. Local musical artist Carol Grosse will perform vocal selections and accompany herself on the guitar during the meal.
Debs McIlhenny, a Wichita attorney, will speak after the dinner. Auxiliary members who have heard McIllhenny speak say her speech, "What were you thinking?" is powerful and well worth hearing.
The public is invited to attend the event. There is a $3 charge for the meal, but attendance at the program is free.
