Audene Beck
Verna Audene Beck, 90, retired school teacher and former editor of the Whitewater Independent died Oct. 19, 2002, at Whitewater.
She was born March 8, 1912, at Argonia, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Selena (Warurton) Haworth.
She attended Argonia schools, graduating from high school there in the class of 1930. She attended Friends University for two years.
She was married to Harold L. Beck on May 31, 1941. He is deceased.
Survivors include sons, Chuck and his wife Georgeanne Beck of Broomfield, Colo., and Tom and his wife Vickie of Whitewater; daughter, Margaret Calvert of Wichita; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was a member of Federated Church, Whitewater, where services were held Tuesday with Pastor Scott Martin officiating. Burial was in Whitewater Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established at the church.
