Area youth enter state's junior livestock show
The state's top youth livestock exhibitors have entered 1,513 animals in the 74th annual Kansas Junior Livestock Show, which will take place Friday through Monday at the Kansas Coliseum near Wichita.
Marion County entries include:
Tampa — Jared Barney, market lamb; Nathan Barney, market lamb, wether dam; Karl Riffel, two market barrows; Kyle Riffel, two market barrows, meat goat.
Durham — Lauren Geis, shorthorn breeding heifer, two market lambs.
Lincolnville — Taylor Harms, red Angus breeding heifer; Kailyn Riffel, market barrow.
Lost Springs — Allie Will, three Hereford and P.H. breeding heifers.
Hillsboro — Matt Brown, two market lambs, two wether dams; Ethan Frantz, two market barrows; Ty Goossen, Angus breeding heifer; Aaron Klassen, two market barrows; Brandon Klassen, two market barrows; Alex Nuss, market steer; Bryce Roberts, two market lambs; SaRae Roberts, shorthorn breeding heifer, two market lambs; Maci Schlehuber, three Charolais breeding heifers.
Marion — Katey Ehrlich, market steer; Sam Ehrlich, market steer and commercial breeding heifer; Daniel Goentzel, market barrow; Cody Parmley, two market barrows.
At the conclusion of the respective species shows, the top five steers, hogs, and lambs and top two goats will sell at 7 p.m. Monday during the KJLS Auction of Champions.
