Annual scarecrow parade will attract gawkers
Those out for afternoon and evening drives will have more reason to travel to the towns of Ramona, Lincolnville, Tampa, Lost Springs, and Burdick.
Scarecrows On Parade, an outdoor event that features homemade scarecrows, will be on display from Oct. 14 to 31.
Typically, the scarecrows are humorous, scary, and often lifelike.
"The purpose of the event is to give folks a reason to drive through our little towns during the beautiful fall season," said Jessica Gilbert of Ramona, coordinator of the event. Guests will be invited to sample food at eating establishment in the five towns.
A map shows the locations of the scarecrows and can be obtained beginning Oct. 14 at The Ramona Café and Barbershop Gallery and Gift Shop, Ramona; Granny's Little Grill and the former post office, Tampa; Bailey's Grill and Tavern, Lincolnville; Al's Café, Lost Springs; and Burdick Meat Market, Burdick.
Marion County officials — commissioners Dan Holub and Randy Dallke, and county sanitarian Bobbie Strait — have been asked to judge the event.
Most scarecrows will remain on display through Halloween.
