Anna Korobka
Anna Korobka, 88, died Nov. 1, 2006, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.
Born July 1, 1918, at Kuban, Russia, she was the daughter of Paul and Palahaia (Haponova) Mechetnaya.
She married Tony Korobka at Regensburg, Germany.
They came to the U.S. in 1951, from Germany, and she had been a resident of Newton since 1954.
She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven sisters, two brothers, and a grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Switlana Briar of Hesston and Luba Brinkman of Peabody; two sons, Victor Korobka of Newton and George Korobka of Hays; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, with the Rev. Father Paul O'Callaghan officiating.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the church.
